چکیده

In the DLR department of optical information technology exists long experience and practical knowledge in geometrical calibration of opto-elctronical systems especially CCD-line scanners. An approved method is the single pixel illumination by collimated light. The accuracy of this method depends of the precision of the used goniometer and is in the order of 2 arcsec. The disadvantage of this method is the large amount of time. A new method of geometrical calibration is the use of static Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE) in connection with a laser beam equipment. This method can be especially used for 2D-sensor array systems but is not suitable for line scanners. An advanced method using Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) of the Holoeye AG gives the possibility of geometrical calibration of line scanners.

Towards System Calibration of Panoramic Laser Scanners from a Single Station

Terrestrial laser scanner measurements suffer from systematic errors due to internal misalignments. The magnitude of the resulting errors in the point cloud in many cases exceeds the magnitude of random errors. Hence, the task of calibrating a laser scanner is important for applications with high accuracy demands. This paper primarily addresses the case of panoramic terrestrial laser scanners. ...

Film-based and Digital Sensors – Augmentation or Change in Paradigm?

Recent technology developments provide new solutions for high-resolution image acquisition for photogrammetric applications. These cameras are based on large CCD-matrices as well as CCD-line sensors and fulfill both: large field of view and high spatial resolution. Singleor multi-line cameras have been designed for spaceborne, airborne and terrestrial scanners to provide high-resolution wide an...

Point-based versus Plane-based Self-calibration of Static Terrestrial Laser Scanners

Systematic trends are apparent when studying the self-calibration residuals of many modern static terrestrial laser scanners. Since the operation of terrestrial laser scanners is comparable to an efficient robotic total station, the sensor modelling parameters are developed in the spherical coordinate system where the raw observables of the scanner are range, horizontal angle, and vertical angl...

Sensor Modeling , Calibration and Point Positioning with Terrestrial Panoramic Cameras

Several techniques have been used for terrestrial panoramic imaging. Known methods for panoramic imaging include: mosaicking/stitching of a rotated frame array CCD camera, mirror technology including single mirror and multi mirrors, near 180 degrees with large frame cameras or one shot with fish-eye lens and recently a linear array-based panoramic camera by horizontal rotation. Up to now, the t...

Accuracy assessment of the FARO Focus and Leica HDS6100 panoramic- type terrestrial laser scanners through point-based and plane-based user self-calibration

SUMMARY Recent developments of terrestrial laser scanners have made these accurate and efficient survey instruments more affordable and portable. In this paper, the geometric accuracy of two terrestrial laser scanners (i.e. the FARO Focus 3D and the Leica HDS6100) is being evaluated. Both of these mid-range instruments are phase-based and have a panoramic architecture. The Focus 3D is currently...
